After one of the most successful seasons in school history in which it finished 21st as a team at the national meet, the Longview Community College cross country team is hoping to build off that success and make 2008 even better.

Members of the Lee’s Summit track club made a strong showing at the AAU Junior Olympics include (from left) Jenna Lord, 5th in high jump; Demarrius Young, 28th in 1,500-meter run; Alex Fanning (standing), 15th in shot put and 25th in 100-meter dash; Carlie Queen, 1st in high jump; Julia Lord, 8th in high jump; and Meghan Kearney, 4th in 3,000-meter run, 9th in high jump, 38th in 800 and four swimming medals.
It only makes sense that 9-year-old Carlie Queen was such a quick learner in the high jump. After all, when your coach, who just happens to be your dad, is a former college high jumper, there’s a chance it’s in the blood.
The Longview Community College volleyball team has put together three straight successful seasons under the leadership of head coach Darrin McBroom, including making it to the NJCAA Division II national tournament the past two seasons.
